I recently finished the 5th and 6th books in the Women's Murder Club series. In my opinion, they were not as good as the first several. I think his assistant writer, Maxine Patero, is bringing in too much love triangle stuff into the mix. If I wanted to read a romance novel, I would read a book with Fabio on the cover. Get back to the "I can't believe they just killed off that character" theme. Makes for a much better page turner.
